Tried probiotics for your gut? The bugs may not have stayed.

A tub of ReSeed R1 prebiotic bowel support, 300g

Lots of guts have a hidden problem. Scientists call it dysbiosis. It means your gut bugs are out of balance. Most probiotics try to add new bugs. ReSeed R1 feeds the good ones you already have. One 5g scoop in water, before bed.

Yes, I want ReSeed R1

60 scoops in a tub. Free UK shipping.

The hidden problem, and a different fix to the one you’ve tried:

Step 1:

Your gut may be short of good bugs. That’s dysbiosis…

BALANCED DYSBIOSIS FEWER OF THE GOOD BUGS
Step 2:

…so feed the ones you’ve got, not new ones that may just pass through.

5g SCOOP BEFORE BED STIR INTO WATER

A probiotic sends in visitors. Fibre feeds the people who live there. That is the whole idea of ReSeed R1.

What’s in every tub?

Serving: 5g scoop60 servings300g tub

PHGG (partially hydrolysed guar gum). The gentle one. It ferments slowly, further down the gut.

XOS (xylooligosaccharides). A short fibre. Bifidobacteria ferment it at a small dose.

Inulin, from chicory root. One of the fast ones. (This is the part that can make you windy at first.)

Five HMOs. 2’-FL, LNT, LNnT, 6’-SL and 3’-SL. The same family of fibres a baby gets in milk, which is how a baby’s gut fills up with bifidobacteria in the first place.

Pomegranate and cranberry powder. Whole fruit powders, for their polyphenols.

The label lists nothing else. No sweetener and no flavouring. Third-party lab tested.

One 5g blend. Being straight with you: the label does not break down how much of each is in there.

The hidden problem: dysbiosis.

Dysbiosis means your gut bugs are out of balance. Researchers pooled 23 studies of 1,340 people. Those with long-term gut trouble had fewer of two good bugs.

−1.04 LOG

Bifidobacterium was lower than in healthy people. (P<0.01. A log is a tenfold step, so this is a big gap.)

−0.57 LOG

Lactobacillus was lower too. (P<0.01.) E. coli was higher, by 0.60 log.

The authors rate the studies moderate in quality, and note the results varied a lot between them.

Why probiotics often don’t stay.

A probiotic tries to add bugs from outside. In 2018, scientists looked inside the gut itself, not just in stool, to see if they settled.

Passed

People took an 11-strain probiotic. The bugs survived the trip. But in many people they did not settle on the gut wall. Whether they stayed came down to the person.

Slower

After a course of antibiotics, people given a probiotic took longer to get their own gut bugs back than people given nothing.

Finding the bugs in your stool does not mean they moved in. The study showed that too. To be fair, some probiotic strains do help some people. But adding visitors is a gamble. Feeding the bugs who already live there is a different idea.

Both were small studies of healthy adults. They did not test ReSeed R1.

Why ReSeed R1 feeds the bugs you already have.

Prebiotic fibre is food for your own good bugs. It reaches them whole, and they eat it. Pool the trials, and bifidobacteria go up against a dummy powder.

+1.16 LOG

more bifidobacteria with prebiotics than with placebo. (95% CI 0.06 to 2.26, P=0.04.) That part of the story has real numbers behind it.

Source: Wilson B, Rossi M, Dimidi E, Whelan K. “Prebiotics in irritable bowel syndrome and other functional bowel disorders in adults: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.” American Journal of Clinical Nutrition 2019;109(4):1098–1111: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30949662. That review looked at prebiotic fibres in general, not at ReSeed R1.

What your good bugs make when you feed them: butyrate.

When your gut bugs eat fibre, they make short-chain fatty acids. The best known is butyrate. Your body can’t make it. Only your gut bugs can.

73%

of the energy used by cells from the lining of the human colon came from butyrate, in lab tests. (75% in cells from the lower colon.) It is their main fuel.

Fibre in. Butyrate out. That is why we feed the bugs you already have. ReSeed R1 gives them a mix of fibres to eat, every night, while you sleep.

Start low. Build up.

The same review found a catch. Inulin-type fibres made wind worse. Gentler fibres, and doses of 6g a day or less, went better. ReSeed R1 holds both kinds. So how you start matters.

WhenHow muchWhat to expect
Week 1A quarter scoop in water, before bedSome wind or rumbling is normal. It should be mild.
Week 2Half a scoopIf week 1 was comfortable, go up. If not, stay put.
Week 3A full 5g scoopThis is the everyday dose. One tub lasts two months from here.
Any weekDrop back downToo much wind means you went up too fast. Go back a step and stay longer.

Drink plenty of water alongside it. If it is still uncomfortable after a couple of weeks, stop taking it. Fibre is not one-size-fits-all, and this blend will not suit everyone.

“Not sure as yet. Taking small amounts because of crampy tummy. Feeling it has made me feel constipated so am trying to increase water intake. Not sure if that is a natural by product of the supplement.”

Why I won’t promise you a flat stomach.

Plenty of people will.

So here is what ReSeed R1 is. Most probiotics send in new bugs. This feeds the good ones you already have, with a small daily dose of several prebiotic fibres, including the ones a baby gets in milk. Take it before bed, with water, and give it a few weeks. Yes, we sell it. I would rather you knew what the research says and decided for yourself.

Questions people ask

How do I take it?

One 5g scoop stirred into a glass of water, before bed. Drink plenty of water through the day too.

Will it make me windy?

It might, in the first week or two. Fibre ferments in your gut, and that makes gas. It usually settles as your gut gets used to it. If it does not settle, drop the dose.

My stomach is sensitive. How do I start?

Start with a quarter scoop for a week. Then half. Then the full scoop in week 3. If a step feels rough, go back down and stay there longer. There is no prize for rushing.

How long does a tub last?

A tub is 300g, which is 60 full scoops. At a scoop a day that is two months. Longer while you are building up.

What does it taste like?

There is no sweetener or flavouring in it. Customers describe the taste as fine and easy to take. It mixes into water.

Can I take it with your other products?

Yes. They do different jobs. ReSeed R1 is fibre. If you take medicine or you are under medical care, check with your doctor first.

I already take a probiotic. Should I stop?

No need. You can take both. They do different jobs. A probiotic adds bugs. ReSeed R1 is fibre that feeds the bugs already in your gut. If your probiotic was prescribed, keep taking it as your doctor said.

Who should not take it?

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or have a medical condition, speak to your GP before taking any supplement. Stop taking it if it upsets you. If you have ongoing gut symptoms that you have not had checked, please see your doctor rather than self-treating.

Do you ship to my country?
